On September 1, 2007 the Ontario legislature has increased public access to dental hygiene services by amending the Dental Hygiene Act, 1991. This allows Ontarians increased access to dental hygiene services by allowing dental hygienists to operate independent of a dentist. This change provides a significant reduction in fees, making professional oral health care affordable. With restrictions removed, the public can now choose their healthcare provider and obtain oral health care when and where they need it. Those who will benefit most are low-income families, the uninsured, and those who are physically unable to get to a traditional dental office such as the sick or homebound, residents in long-term care facilities and those living in remote areas.
I am an Independant Registered Dental Hygienist providing dental hygiene services at Dental Hygiene Care- Cindy Hernandez, RDH (inside Fortino Dental). My philosophy is that optimal oral health is vital to total well being. I would like to share that with you. I promote personalized hygiene therapy, delivered with a gentle touch and listening ear. The relationship that is formed with my clients is paramount in establishing a partnership towards a healthy mouth and healthy body.
