Desensitizing Teeth

Tooth sensitivity is tooth discomfort after eating cold or hot, sweet or sour foods or liquids, touch while brushing or flossing or even breathing in cold air. It is one of the most common complaints among people. Sensitive teeth can be associated with receding gums or erosion. When the gums have receded or the hard enamel is worn down the porous dentin becomes exposed. The nerve endings in the dentin are irritated and discomfort is the result.

Treatment for sensitive teeth include site specific desensitizing with a fluoride varnish or protectant offered at chair side.
